Minnesota Wild 5

Edmonton Oilers 2

The Minnesota Wild won their third straight game Thursday night as they beat the Edmonton Oilers 5-2 to close a crucial swing through western Canada at 3-0.

1. Wild offense opens up

After struggling to score goals for most of 2016, the Wild offense has found its groove. The Wild scored five goals in wins over both Vancouver and Calgary.

Thursday night, despite playing their third game in four days, the Wild put up five again.

Charlie Coyle's empty-netter in the third period, was his eighth goal in his last 12 games and means that Minnesota has put up 15 goals in their first three games under interim coach John Torchetti.

2. Pominville scores second goal in as many nights

The season has been a quiet one for Wild forward Jason Pominville, but it's been a good week for the struggling Wild forward.

He scored his second goal in as many nights Thursday when he put the Wild on the scoreboard with his eighth goal of the season.

3. Wild continue to own western Canada trip

The win wrapped up three straight victories on Minnesota's trip through western Canada. It was very similar to the Wild's road trip through Edmonton, Calgary and Vancouver last year that helped Minnesota turn that season around.
