Minnesotan helps Blues manhandle the Wild in St. Louis

A Minnesotan shined in St. Louis Thursday night, it just was not a member of the Wild. St. Louis trounced the Wild 5-1 Thursday night, sending the Wild to their ninth loss in their last 12 games.

T.J. Oshie had a hat trick for St. Louis. The Warroad native and Olympic hero was on his game on Thursday. He put the Blues on the scoreboard early in the first, then scored shorthanded in the closing seconds of the first to set the tone.

It was a second straight rough game for Darcy Kuemper, who was yanked from Wednesday's game after giving up three goals on 12 shots. Wild coach Mike Yeo was hoping for the young goalie to bounce back, but again he gave up five goals on 24 shots.

The Wild never threatened, the Blues built a 5-0 lead before Zach Parise finally got the Wild on the scoreboard midway through the third, despite outshooting their opponent for the second straight night.

But the worst part about the loss for the Wild had nothing to do with what happened in St. Louis. Phoenix beat New Jersey in a shootout so that means the Wild's lead for the top wild card spot is down to one.
