Wild calls up four from Houston, Yeo not waiting for things to get better

The Wild called up four players from the Houston Aeros today. Forwards Matt Kassian, Jed Ortmeyer, Chad Rau and defenseman Nate Prosser will join the team for Saturday's game against Dallas. Head coach Mike Yeo says, "We're not just going to stand around and hope things get better."

Wild reassigns four defensemen to Houston

The Minnesota Wild’s season came to an end on Saturday but four of its defensemen were reassigned to the Houston Aeros of the AHL. Marco Scandella, Nate Prosser, Chey Genoway and Kris Fredheim are eligible to play the rest of the season, and playoffs if the Aeros reach the postseason.

Wild sends Scandella back to Houston

Marco Scandella was informed Monday that he was being sent back to the Wild's AHL affiliate in Houston. Head coach Mike Yeo said Scandella "shrunk" a little bit after each mistake he's made during the Wild's slump. Yeo hopes a trip back to the minors will help Scandella's confidence.

Yeo gives tired, slumping Wild day off

After back-to-back losses in Vancouver and Calgary, and a five game winless streak, Wild head coach Mike Yeo decided to give players a day off Wednesday. Injuries have forced Yeo to play the likes of Dany Heatley, Matt Cullen and Kyle Brodziak more minutes. The extra ice time is wearing on the players, but Yeo hopes the rest will help put the Wild back in the win column.

Yeo pleased with Wild's physical play

Mike Yeo was very pleased with his teams victory Thursday night over Edmonton. Not only did the win snap an eight-game losing streak, but it also showed Yeo that his team is still capable of playing a physical brand of hockey, something they had gotten away from during the losing streak.

Yeo says Heatley was probably Wild's MVP

Head coach Mike Yeo says Dany Heatley was probably the Wild's MVP this season. He hinted that Heatley would have finished with more than 24 goals if Mikko Koivu didn't miss 27 games. Even without his top linemate out of action, Yeo says Heatley "never once complained."
