Wild coach Darryl Sydor back after DWI arrest, treatment

Darryl Sydor was back with the Minnesota Wild at practice Tuesday following his August DWI arrest.

The assistant coach was charged with two counts of DWI in August – he pleaded guilty in October and received a mandatory 15-day jail sentence (though time served shortened that). At the time, the Wild said his return to the team would "be addressed at a later date."

After practice Tuesday, head coach Mike Yeo said it seemed like a "good opportunity" to work Sydor back in, according to a tweet from the team, adding he's confident the 43-year-old "is in the right place."

Chad Graff with the Pioneer Press tweeted Sydor will resume coaching duties, but not in full.

Three days after his arrest, Sydor voluntarily checked himself into an alcohol treatment program.

The Star Tribune's Michal Russo wrote Sydor spent time at a California treatment facility earlier this fall.
