Wild fans scribble, paint all over Xcel ice
The Minnesota Wild turned their home ice into a giant canvas Thursday night, allowing season ticket holders to paint the frozen surface with big, bright, colorful words and pictures.
Carly Peters, a media relations specialist with the Wild, says it's essentially a last hurrah for the ice before it gets taken out and melted away for good.
About 450 people attended the event, which was offered exclusively to season ticket holders. It also featured floor hockey, face painting and locker room tours.
It was the first time the Wild have held a Paint the Ice night. Peters said the feedback was "really positive," and while there's no way to know for sure right now, it's "definitely something" they'd like to do again.
