Wild: Jonas Brodin has broken cheekbone, out indefinitely

Bad news for the Minnesota Wild today with the revelation that young star defenseman Jonas Brodin suffered a broken cheekbone after taking a puck to the face in the Wild's 2-nothing win over Nashville last night (video of the injury here).

He was taken to a hospital after the game for X-rays.

A timetable for Brodin's return to the ice hasn't been made, but Star Tribune beat writer Michael Russo made it sound like the injury isn't as bad as it sounds.

It's good news because the Wild initially thought Brodin might have suffered a broken jaw. However, the team could determine surgery is the best option. Russo writes that players can typically play through a broken cheekbone with a cage around their face.
