Zach Parise is an unstoppable force right now and he keeps adding hardware to his trophy case.

Parise was named the National Hockey League's First Star of the Week for his tremendous series of performances in games against the Anaheim Ducks, Colorado Avalanche and Calgary Flames, the league announced Monday.

Parise led Minnesota to an upset win over the Ducks, who own the best record in the NHL, with a goal and two assists. He followed that up with a four-point game (two goals, two assists) in a close loss to the Avalanche. He stretch his points streak to three games with an assist in a 4-3 loss to Calgary on Saturday.

He's the fifth player in franchise history to be named First Star of the Week. Jason Pominville was named First Star in early November. Prior to this season, only Josh Harding (2011), Marian Gaborik (2008, 2007) and Niklas Backstrom (2006) had previously been honored, according to Wild.com.

The weekly award comes just a few days after Parise was named captain of the U.S. Olympic team.

Former Golden Gophers star Phil Kessel, now with the Toronto Maple Leafs, was named the Second Star of the Week.
