The Minnesota Wild have placed goaltender Darcy Kuemper on injured reserve and have called up some reserves as the team gets ready to face one of its biggest rivals Thursday night – the Chicago Blackhawks.

Wild coach Mike Yeo told reporters Kuemper aggravated a lower-body injury. John Curry will join the Wild to add depth at goaltender behind Niklas Backstrom, who will start against Chicago.

According to the Star Tribune, the Wild are also scouring the trade market looking for another goaltender. Minnesota has reportedly contacted Carolina regarding the availability of Cam Ward, there are a few other goaltenders reported to be on the market as well.

Kuemper's move was one of several the Wild made Thursday. According to 1500 ESPN, in addition to Curry the Wild also called up Jonathon Blum and Jordan Schroeder from the Iowa Wild.

Blum will add depth along the blue line, with Marco Scandella expected to miss the game with an upper-body injury. Schroeder could play with Zach Parise away from the team following the death of his father – former North Star, J.P. Parise.
