The speed, skill and strength of Minnesota Wild prospect Kirill Kaprizov was on full display in the gold-medal game of the Olympics Saturday night, with the 20 year old netting the game-winning goal in overtime.

Kaprizov's slap shot on the power play gave the Olympic Athletes of Russia (OAR) a 4-3 win over Germany, the first Olympic hockey gold for Russia since 1992.

With 5 goals and 4 assists in six games, Kaprizov was tied for the second most points among all Olympic men's skaters.

Bottom line: Kaprizov is an ultra-talented winger who Wild fans continue to wait for his arrival from the Kontinental Hockey League (KHL) in Russia.

His contract with CSKA Moscow runs through the 2019-20 season, so the only way Kaprizov will arrive in Minnesota before the 2020-21 season is if he buys out his contract, according to Hockey Wilderness

A story on Sunday from the Associated Press says Kaprizov could do that this summer and join the Wild in the fall, but The Athletic's Michael Russo doesn't think so.

Russian head coach Valery Bragin loves this kid, saying “Kaprizov is an even brighter prospect than Vladimir Tarasenko."

I can see him being second only to Sidney Crosby in the NHL," Bragin added, via CSKA Moscow's website.

Kaprizov left the KHL for the Olympic break with 40 points in 46 games, no fluke considering he finished with 42 points in 49 games last season.

Whenever he comes to Minnesota, he'll have the chance to become an immediate star – perhaps even a superstar – for the Wild and the NHL.
