A 3-2 win over the San Jose Sharks Friday night boosted the Wild to 55 points as they try to keep pace with the Colorado Avalanche and Vegas Golden Knights.
Nico Sturm, Zach Parise and Mats Zuccarello scored for Minnesota, who held on despite a late charge by the Sharks in the third period. Zuccarello and Parise scored just 65 seconds apart early in the second period, with the passing that led to the Parise goal drawing rave reviews.
Cam Talbot stopped 20 of 22 shots on goal to get the win in net for the Wild.
Minnesota has 14 games left in the regular season and is comfortably in playoff position, though they still have time to move up the West Division standings. Entering play Saturday, Colorado leads the division with 64 points, followed by Vegas (62 points) and Minnesota (55 points).
The Wild and Sharks play again Saturday at 7 p.m.
