The Minnesota Wild's hopes of getting a healthy Mikael Granlund back in the lineup were dashed a bit on Wednesday with the team essentially shutting the sophomore forward down.

Granlund suffered a concussion in Minnesota's 2-0 win over the Phoenix Coyotes last week. He hasn't played since, and with his concussion symptoms seemingly lingering, the Wild decided it would be best to rest him for the time being.

"We’re going to keep him off right now," coach Mike Yeo told the Star Tribune. "He skated the other day and we’re at the point now where lets just take some time off here and make sure we get this right. ... I just know that we’re not making progress, and so what we’re doing right now, we have to take a different approach."

According to Pro Hockey Talk, Granlund has 12 points in 24 games and is averaging about 16 minutes per game.

The Wild has a big Western Conference showdown against the Chicago Blackhawks at Xcel Energy Center in St. Paul on Thursday.
