Wild wins first road game in shootout over Calgary, 2-1

The Wild's first road win of the season came Monday night as they topped the Flames in a shootout, 2-1.

Kyle Brodziak scored the only goal in regulation for Minnesota. It was his first of the season and it came with 1:48 left in the second period. Calgary tied the game early in the third-period on Jiri Hudler's third goal of the season.

The game went to a shootout, where Zach Parise and Mikko Koivu scored for the Wild. Niklas Backstrom stopped two of the three shooters for the Flames and sealed the victory with a left pad blocker on the final attempt.

Overall it was Backstrom's second straight impressive night in goal. He stopped 23 of 24 shots.

Minnesota is now 6-5-1. With 13 points they are just three points behind Vancouver for first in the Northwest Division. They play the Canucks in Vancouver on Tuesday night.
