Winning prestigious awards and receiving major national acclaim is becoming old hat for Gophers tight end Maxx Williams.

Williams was named to the Associated Press' All America Second Team on Tuesday.

It was a second All American honor for Williams. He was also named to the Walter Camp All American second team. In addition, he was also named a finalist for the Mackey Award and won the Kwalick-Clark Tight End of the Year award, which goes to the Big Ten's top tight end.

According to the Star Tribune, Williams was also named a Capitol One Academic All American.

FOX Sports reports it is the second consecutive year the Gophers have had an All American, last year defensive tackle Ra'Shede Hageman made the AP All American third team.

Williams led the Gophers with 29 receptions for 471 yards, he also caught seven touchdown passes. Williams became the first Gopher to be named as an AP All American second-teamer since Bud Grant did in 1949.

Former Gophers tight end Matt Spaeth was named to the AP All American First team in 2006.

Florida State tight end Nick O'Leary, who also beat out Williams for the Mackey Award, was named to the AP's first team.

Williams and the Gophers (8-4) play Missouri in the Citrus Bowl on Jan. 1st.
