Willingham, Dozier homer to lift Twins over Brewers

The Twins picked up a win on a throwback Tuesday in Milwaukee, as they defeated the Brewers 6-4.

The teams wore throw back uniforms, for the game as the Twins broke out their powder blue uniforms from the mid-80's.

Josh Willingham's three-run homer in the third inning put the Twins up 4-1. Willingham drove the first pitch of his second at bat into the left-center field stands, to break open a 1-1 tie and give the Twins the lead.

Samuel Deduno pitched five innings, he gave up two runs on six hits to pick up the win. Glenn Perkins got the save, his 15th of the season.

The Brewers took an early lead on the Twins, when Jean Segura and Scooter Gennett led off the game with back-to-back base hits. Segura came around to score when Ryan Braun hit a ground ball to second. Deduno bounced back to get out of the innings without any further damage.

The Twins answered back with one of their own runs in the top of the second. Josmail Pinto singled to score Trevor Plouffe to even the score at one.

In the third, Brian Dozier and Joe Mauer each singled prior to Willingham's blast. It was his fourth home run of the season.

Willingham missed a large portion of the start of the season with a broken bone in his wrist, but he has brought some pop back to the Twins lineup. All of those home runs are since his return to the lineup on May 26.

After the Brewers got one back in the fourth, Dozier answered with a two-run home run in the fifth, to put the Twins on top 6-2. Late in the game there was an incident. Emergency personnel responded after a fan fell onto the field.

The Twins and Brewers continue their home and home series at Target Field on Wednesday and Thursday.
