Winnipeg Jets' flight finally allowed to land in Minneapolis for Game 3 against the Wild

Their travel plans on Saturday were interrupted by the blizzard.

Mother Nature has succeeded where the Minnesota Wild failed: it stopped the Winnipeg Jets.

Winnipeg's attempt to fly into the Twin Cities on Saturday was thwarted by blizzard conditions that closed down the Minneapolis-St. Paul Airport.

The team's flight diverted to Duluth, sat on the tarmac for a couple of hours and then headed back to Winnipeg.

The Winnipeg Free Press reports that the team was expecting to fly to Minnesota Sunday morning, just hours before the 6 p.m. puck drop for Game 3 at Xcel Energy Center in St. Paul, where more than a foot of snow has fallen.

According to Michael Russo, the Jets are expected to land at MSP Airport just after 10 a.m.

It's a big change to Winnipeg's normal game-day routine, the Free Press says, although they should have no trouble getting to St. Paul in time for their normal game-day practice.

Winnipeg has pounded Minnesota and leads the best-of-seven series 2-0.
