Mike Leaf won two NCAA Division II National Championships as the men's basketball coach at Winona State University.

His teams qualified for three straight title games, he won six Northern Sun Conference Championships, and had 16 winning seasons in 17 years as the Warriors head coach. Then in June, Leaf suddenly resigned.

At the time there was no real reason given for Leaf's resignation. But nearly two months after it was announced, new questions are starting to arise.

According to  ABC 6 News, Winona State University confirmed there is an ongoing investigation into Leaf, after a formal complaint was made to the school.

The university has not released any of the details of the investigation. According to the ABC 6 report, Leaf's resignation does not change the continuing investigation.

There is no word on how long the investigation into Leaf will take.

Winona State isn't the only major university in Minnesota launching an investigation into it's athletic department.

The University of Minnesota announced Friday that it has hired two attorneys to conduct an investigation into its own athletic department in the wake of former athletics director Norwood Teague's resignation amid sexual harassment claims.
