Wolves jump Thunder, Pelicans in playoff standings

Jamal Crawford came up huge late for the Wolves.

The Wolves got all the bounces on Friday night and used their win over Dallas, coupled with losses by New Orleans and Oklahoma City, to jump from 7th to 5th in the Western Conference playoff race.

Karl-Anthony Towns' NBA-leading 61st double-double of the season, 21 points and 20 rebounds, and Jamal Crawford's 24 points off the bench fueled Minnesota to a 93-92 win in Dallas.

Meanwhile, the Nuggets beat the Thunder in overtime and LeBron James and the Cavaliers took care of the Pelicans.

  1. Rockets 62-14
  2. Warriors 54-21
  3. Blazers 47-29
  4. Spurs 44-32
  5. Wolves 44-33
  6. Thunder 44-33
  7. Jazz 43-33
  8. Pelicans 43-33

It's so tight in the West that 1 game or less separates teams in 4th through 8th place.

None of teams jockeying for position play Saturday, but Easter Sunday is loaded with critical games.

  • Spurs vs. Rockets
  • Pelicans vs. Thunder
  • Wolves vs. Jazz

A win for the Wolves would put them two games in front of Utah, but a loss would tie them in the standings. A win coupled with a loss for the Spurs would put the Wolves in 4th with five games to go.

The Thunder really have it tough, not only playing the Pelicans on Sunday, but following it Tuesday at home against the Warriors.
