Wolves slugged by Spurs in latest attempt to get above .500

.500 is just a number, but for the Minnesota Timberwolves, it's also been a stumbling block this year.

Sunday served as another reminder of just how difficult getting above even has been for the Wolves this year, as they lost 104-86 in San Antonio to drop to 0-9 this year when attempting to get above .500.

To be fair to Minnesota, San Antonio is the least likely team to surrender an easy victory, as the win assures they will stay atop the Western Conference once Monday comes.

Six different Spurs found double-figures while the club shot 57 percent from the field on the night, and Minnesota was helpless on defense throughout, allowing 31 assists on 42 field goals.

San Antonio entered the night with the fifth-best scoring defense in basketball, and Wolves stars Kevin Love and Kevin Martin were lost throughout, combining to shoot just 5-of-26 from the field.

Nikola Pekovic was the only bright spot in a dim night for Minnesota, putting up 22 points on 10-of-15 from the floor.

The Wolves take on the Kings Wednesday at Target Center.
