With a string of injured starters, a coach sidelined by a family illness, and only nine players--including two signed earlier in the day--the Minnesota Timberwolves could hardly have felt optimistic as they hit the floor at Target Center to take on the Houston Rockets.

But the Pioneer Press reports that they prevailed, snapping a five game losing streak. The final score was 92-79.

Andrei Kirilenko was the top scorer for the Wolves with 21.

Newcomers Chris Johnson and Mickael Gelabale inked 10-day contracts with the Wolves on Saturday morning and were key players on Saturday night. Johnson scored 15 and Gelabale, a forward who arrived from France on Thursday, had 10 of his 11 points in the final 12 minutes of the game.

The Wolves next travel to Atlanta for an afternoon game on Monday.
