The Yankees have kept their streak alive of winning another series on Minnesota turf for the seventh season in a row.

The New York heavyweights had six runs in the sixth inning to power a 7-2 win over the Twins Sunday afternoon at Target Field, taking the weekend series two games to one.

The chances looked good for the Twins Friday when they beat the Yankees 10-1, but they lost 8-5 Saturday night.

The last time the Twins beat the Yankees in a home series was in 2008 at the Metrodome, the Pioneer Press reports.

The Twins scored the first run in the game when Torii Hunter hit an RBI grounder to bring Aaron Hicks home.

Twins starter Kyle Gibson allowed only one run in the first five innings, according to MLB.com.

But in the sixth, the wheels came off as the Yankees seemed to score at will.

New York's Chris Headley had a three-run homer, and Stephen Drew added a two-run home run.

Minnesota got one run back in the ninth on an RBI from Trevor Plouffe.

Minnesota is still trailing Kansas City by 7.5 games in the AL Central. Minnesota is 52-46 overall.

The Twins have Monday off before hosting the Pittsburgh Pirates Tuesday evening.

Mike Pelfrey (5-7) is scheduled to start. He has a 3.94 ERA.
