Could the NHL's worst team be the last team Minnesota Wild head coach Mike Yeo gets to coach against?

The Star Tribune headline today should say it all: "Yeo under fire as Wild mired in slump."

A loss at home tonight against the Buffalo Sabres would extend a franchise record six-game losing streak to seven.

"Yeo addressed his job status and the rumors in front of his players earlier this week.

“I said, ‘I know it’s there, I know what they’re writing, I don’t want anyone feeling sorry for me. What I want is for you guys to know I still believe in this group and you’re going to see that I’m still going to come in here and I’m going to coach not to try to save my job, I’m going to coach to try to give us a chance to get things going, get back on track and get back in the playoff race and keep building toward our ultimate goal.’”

Today, during an interview with KFAN's Paul Allen and Brandon Mileski, Yeo said he's not even thinking about tonight's opponent, the Buffalo Sabres.

"It's clear. We have to get over this, there's no doubt about it," he said. "There's pressure, there's no question... but we're going to handle it with a workman-like attitude, but we're going to handle it with confidence... and we're going to get out of this."

Note: Yeo said he's "not sure" when star forward Zach Parise will be able to return from a fractured foot.

"We gotta make sure he's fully healed," Yeo said.
