Youthful Wolves blow out Knicks with 3-point barrage

Youth was on display Wednesday night for the Minnesota Timberwolves, who blew out the New York Knicks 115-99 at Target Center.

It was the first win for the Wolves since Ricky Rubio severely sprained his ankle, and it snapped a five-game losing streak. The Wolves were also without Thaddeus Young and Nikola Pekovic Wednesday.

It wasn't a problem, as they knocked down a season-high 11 three-pointers and shot nearly 50 percent from the floor.

Kevin Martin stepped up. He scored 37, establishing a new personal best in a Wolves uniform.

Mo Williams also had a big night in his first start with the Wolves, finishing with a double-double. Williams scored 14 points and dished out 13 assists.

The Wolves put the game away in the third quarter after a run of turnovers and miscues by the Knicks allowed the Wolves to stretch their lead to 24 points at one point. They maintained a 20-point lead heading into the fourth.

New York had 11 turnovers in that third quarter.

Shabazz Muhammad added 17 points and eight rebounds as he saw an increased role. Corey Brewer also added 14 points and six steals.

Carmelo Anthony led the Knicks with 20 points in the loss.

The Wolves (3-7) host San Antonio on Friday night.
