Zach LaVine: On dunk contest 'I have some tricks up my sleeve'

Even after unleashing an impressive array of dunks on his way to winning the NBA Slam Dunk Competition last year, Timberwolves guard Zach LaVine is plenty confident about his chances in this year's event.

Last year, at 19, LaVine became the second youngest player in NBA history to win the dunk contest. His dazzling display of dunks helped to breathe some excitement back into the event.

But apparently LaVine hasn't emptied his bag of tricks.

"I was kind of on the fence about it, but at the end of the day I wanted to come out and do another good performance," LaVine told reporters Friday. "I can officially say I have some tricks up my sleeve."

According to the Associated Press, LaVine said he saved one or two of his best dunks for future events.

LaVine will square off with Andre Drummond, Aaron Gordon and Will Barton in the event during the NBA's All-Star Weekend next Saturday night in Toronto, and he is clear that his goal is to become one of the few to repeat as dunk champion.

"There have only been like three people that've done it, I can be the fourth and that'll be really cool," LaVine said. "Put your name in history, try and keep getting different accomplishments for yourself, your family and for your teammates that you're representing."
