Zimmer: Chance that receivers Johnson, Wright could play Sunday

Vikings wide receivers Charles Johnson and Jarius Wright sat out of practice again on Thursday, but Vikings coach Mike Zimmer is still holding out hope they'll be able to play on Sunday in Denver.

Johnson is recovering from a rib injury, while Wright is battling a hand injury. Neither has practiced this week.

"There's a chance both will be able to play," Zimmer told reporters after Thursday's practice.

The Pioneer Press notes that Johnson was hurt in the first half of the Vikings victory over San Diego. But on Thursday he told the newspaper that he was feeling less pain.

While the Vikings are hoping that Johnson and Wright will be ready to go, Vikings offensive coordinator Norv Turner told reporters Thursday they are preparing Adam Thielen, Cordarrelle Patterson and rookie Stefon Diggs to play in their spots.

"I'm holding out hope on (Johnson) and Jarius, but we're getting other guys ready to play," Turner said. "That's why you have six receivers. ... We just have to be flexible and see where we are when we get out there Sunday and see who can go and get them ready to go."

Thielen received 28 snaps on offense last week against San Diego and Patterson had 14.

Defensive end Justin Trattou (foot), safety Andrew Sendejo (knee), and cornerback Jabari Price (shoulder) also sat out of Thursday's practice.

Linebacker Audie Cole (ankle) was limited and Xavier Rhodes (concussion/neck) was a full participant.
