Zimmer 'emphatically' says Vikings aren't trading Peterson
Another day and another quote of commitment to Adrian Peterson from Vikings head coach Mike Zimmer.
"I'm not going to speculate on what he wants or doesn't want," Zimmer said, according Vikings.com. "Adrian's under contract for three more years with us and that's why you sign those contracts. That's why you get these big bonuses, you know?"
Peterson is due to make $13 million this season but his agent, Ben Dogra, told reporters on Monday that it's not in Peterson's "best interest" to remain in Minnesota.
ESPN's Kevin Seifert reports that Zimmer said emphatically: "We have no plans to trade Adrian."
Zimmer's words at the NFL's league meetings in Arizona echo those of team co-owner Mark Wilf, who earlier this week said he fully expects Peterson to be on what could be a really good Vikings team in 2015.
Chuck Foreman on Adrian Peterson
“What the Vikings are saying is, ‘He’s under contract,’’’ Foreman said Tuesday in an interview with the Pioneer Press. “And I’m saying that I agree that he can’t do anything. He has no cards.’’
Foreman added that Minnesota is the best place for Peterson because Minnesotans are forgiving.
