Minnesota was slammed by a severe line of thunderstorms Tuesday that dumped 2-4 inches of rain on a line from north of Mankato to the far southern Twin Cities metro area, and that is likely just the beginning of what could prove to be a drought-busting week of weather.
About an inch of rain fell throughout most of the Twin Cities, with the higher amounts just to the south, including 3.72 inches measured in Cannon Falls.
"Confidence is increasing there will be widespread heavy rain Thursday afternoon into Friday," says the Twin Cities office of the National Weather Service. "Multiple rounds of thunderstorms will likely bring 3 to 5 inches across central MN into WI. Locally higher totals in excess of 6 inches are possible."
Again, that's all on top of what fell Tuesday.
