A lull in the winter storm affecting much of Minnesota won't last for long as the storm system is expected to intensify late Thursday into the overnight hours and early Friday.

Novak Weather continues to forecast a total of 4-6 inches for the Twin Cities metro area, with the bullseye in southeastern Minnesota looking at picking up 6-8+ inches of fresh snow.

That compares favorably with what the National Weather Service is forecasting. The NWS has the metro getting another 4-7 inches (on top of what fell during the day Thursday) with an additional 6-10 inches in south-central and southeastern Minnesota.
