Severe thunderstorm watch issued for southern Minnesota, including the south metro
Storms have fired west of the Twin Cities and some have gone severe, prompting the National Weather Service to issue a severe thunderstorm watch.
The watch includes the south metro suburbs, but not Minneapolis and St. Paul. Large hail and damaging winds are the main hazards, though an isolated tornado can't be ruled out.
Per the watch: "Scattered damaging winds likely with isolated significant gusts to 75 mph possible. Scattered large hail likely with isolated very large hail events to 2.5 inches in diameter possible."
The watch is in effect until 8 p.m. Saturday.
