Residents of Woodbury may have needed to use a snow shovel for the first time in more than a month as they woke up to a whopping 2.5 inches of fresh snow/slush Monday morning.

At MSP Airport, a full inch covered the ground – the most at the airport from one storm system since the runways were buried in TWO INCHES way back on Feb. 17. That was 35 days ago.

It was damn near a snowblower day in Stillwater, too, as the home of the Ponies was inundated with 2.5 inches. Newport and Maplewood each reported 1.7 inches, while somewheres between 1 and 1.7 inches fell in Eden Prairie, Chanhassen, Prior Lake, Rosemount, Apple Valley, Roseville and Hastings.

Higher totals in the 3- to- 4-inch range were reported in western Wisconsin.

It's been an extremely dull period for storm lovers, and outside of a couple of shots at rain and snowflakes, this week looks to be more of the same as we inch closer to April. The best chances for precipitation, per the weather service, will be Wednesday evening into Thursday morning, and again Friday afternoon through Saturday morning.

"Precipitation type looks to be mainly rain with anything that occurs, but there is still some chance for snow to mix in depending on the timing of things," the Twin Cities office of the National Weather Service said.

Here's a look at what the European model is suggesting could unfold this week.

Meanwhile, looking ahead at the last couple days of March and first week of April, the Climate Prediction Center is suggesting there's a really good chance of above normal temperatures in Minnesota.
