A tornado watch has been issued by the National Weather Service as a line of storms approaches the Twin Cities.

The watch is in place until 10 p.m. and covers a large area of southeastern Minnesota, including the southern Twin Cities metro and Rochester.

The wider storm system could bring isolated patches of ping-pong-sized hail and wind gusts of up to 70 mph.

The storm is expected to arrive in the Twin Cities shortly after 6 p.m.

It is bringing with it heavy rain that could potentially lead to some localized flooding in parts of the state.
