The National Weather Service has issued a tornado watch for parts of Minnesota, Wisconsin and Iowa and it is in effect until 12 a.m. Wednesday.
The watch includes the entire Twin Cities metro area, in addition most of south-central and southeast Minnesota. Storms will capable of dropping tornadoes and large hail that could be the size of apples.
Storms began firing in northwest Iowa just after 4 p.m., and more are expected to develop along a line from approximately Fairmont to the Twin Cities and then move east-southeast as the evening progresses.
Keep an eye to the sky over the next handful of hours, especially if you're within the tornado watch.
