Northwestern Minnesota could see as much as 6 inches of snow on Tuesday, the National Weather Service (NWS) says.
A winter weather advisory is in effect from noon to midnight Tuesday for portions of central, north-central and northwest Minnesota, including Moorhead, Bemidji, Detroit Lakes, Park Rapids, Upper Rice Lake and Crookston.
According to the NWS' advisory, snow accumulations of 2-5 inches are expected, with a narrow band of 6 inches or more possible in some areas.
Here's a map of expected snow accumulations:
The max snowfall band is expected to be from near Devils Lake to Mayville/Hillsboro and Park Rapids, but NWS says the band of snow has the possibility of moving further north or south of the area shown on the maps above.
Snowfall rates of 1 inch per hour are possible, with NWS warning this bout of wintry weather could lead to slippery roads and reduced visibility, especially during the evening commute.
