Watch: Heavy hail sweeps across Twin Cities overnight

There were reports of golfball size hail in parts of the metro.
Hail

It was a noisy night in the Twin Cities as storms brought heavy hail that swept across parts of the metro.

There have been reports of golf ball and half-dollar sized hail in the Twin Cities as a severe storm system that started in the west of the state remained formed as it reached the metro.

The video below was sent to BMTN by Kevin Fee, showing heavy hail bouncing off the deck outside his Minnetonka home.

It wasn't initially thought that Saturday's severe weather would reach the Twin Cities, but this changed around midnight when the National Weather Service expanded its severe storm watch to include the western metro.

There were similar reports of large hail in other parts of the Twin Cities, with residents sharing pictures and videos on social media.
