Watch: Sidewalk skater shows just how icy it is in Minnesota

Freezing rain has caused havoc across the metro and beyond.

In case you hadn't noticed, it's icy as heck in the Twin Cities on Saturday morning.

Freezing rain and sub-zero conditions created calamitous conditions on the roads, with scores of crashes and spinouts reported across the metro.

But it wasn't all bad news for Minnesotans, at least, not for those on skates.

This video posted to Twitter by Mark Norgren shows one intrepid youth take advantage of the icy conditions by skating on the sidewalk.

The video was taken in Savage, and has already been viewed more than 14,000 times as of 9:30 a.m. and attracted the interest of national media.

If you're looking for a closer example of the pavement conditions, check this out from the Chisago County Sheriff.

And here's someone else making use of their skates.

A "no travel" advisory has been issued by the Minnesota State Patrol in the Twin Cities, with drivers advised not to venture out in their cars unless it's absolutely necessary.

Metro Transit suspended its bus services at 7:30 a.m., and many others are following suit, including Chey Eisenman, the owner of Twin Cities-based Chey Cab, who says she's suspended service for the first time since the blizzard of 2010.
