1 dead, 2 hospitalized after Eagan house fire

One man is dead after a fire engulfed part of a four-unit townhouse in Eagan early Sunday morning, the Pioneer Press reports. Two men jumped from a second-story window and were taken to Regions Hospital in St. Paul with unknown injuries.

A family of three and a man were evacuated from two other units. No additional injuries were reported.

The frigid temperatures made it difficult for firefighters to get the blaze under control, WCCO reports. “With this cold weather, it’s just making it that much harder, a couple of fire fighters have fallen down on the ice, it makes it pretty slippery,” said Mike Scott, Eagan's fire chief.

Officials say the fire started on the first floor, but the cause remains under investigation.
