1 dead, 2 injured in Minneapolis shooting early Sunday

One person was killed and two were injured in a shooting early Sunday morning.

A Minneapolis police officer heard multiple gunshots just before 4 a.m. in the area of Emerson and West Broadway avenues, a news release says.

A ShotSpotter notification was also made, signaling shots were fired on the 1100 block of West Broadway Avenue.

Officers found a man dead outside in a parking lot, and two others suffering non-life threatening gunshot wounds had arrived at local hospitals.

Police haven't identified the victims, but family members told KSTP the man who was killed was 24-year-old Andre Riley Jr. of Minneapolis. They said he was with family and friends in the parking lot of Hook Fish & Chicken when a car drove by and fired shots.

The family didn't know the others who were injured in the shooting, the news station says.

Police have spoken with people on the scene and others who may have witnessed the shooting. Investigators will also in the area Sunday to speak with residents.

"People are strongly encouraged to speak freely with these officers," the release says.

Anyone who has information about the shooting is asked to contact police either by texting their tip to 847411 or calling the police department tip line at 612-692-8477.

This was the third homicide in Minneapolis in a week, the Star Tribune's Libor Jany tweeted. So far this year, 12 people have been killed in Minneapolis, according to the police department's website.
