Shakopee shooting: 1 arrested, 2 still sought

Police have arrested one man and continued to look for two others Friday in connection with a shooting in a Shakopee apartment Thursday night that killed a 19-year-old and injured two others, the Pioneer Press reports

A Minneapolis man was arrested, but investigators still were following leads on the other two male suspects, Shakopee police said, according to the paper.

Even though two suspects remain at large, police earlier said in a statement that there is “no general threat to the public,” the newspaper reported.

“This was not a random act of violence,” said Police Chief Jeff Tate. “It’s important to get that out there.”

Shakopee police were called to an apartment complex on Gorman Street across from the police station at about 10:45 p.m. Thursday.

Police found three people who had been shot inside one of the apartments. One was pronounced dead at the scene, and two others were taken to Hennepin County Medical Center. The dead man was identified as Marcos A. Pantaleon, 19, the Star Tribune reported. An injured 21-year-old was in satisfactory condition; there was no condition available on a 17-year-old who was shot.

A mother, father and teenage girl also in the apartment were not shot, the Star Tribune reported.

Investigators from the Scott County Sheriff's department, Shakopee and Savage police and the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension were investigating at the scene, KARE 11 reported.
