One person is dead and three others continue to receive medical attention after a rash of heroin overdoses in Beltrami County on Saturday, the Bemidji Pioneer reports.
The overdoses prompted the Sheriff's department to issue a plea on its Facebook page:
"We strongly urge all citizens who are aware of their loved ones or friends’ use of drugs to closely monitor them for breathing difficulties, incoherence and unconsciousness, all of which indicate an emergency need for medical treatment. To save their lives, these individuals need immediate transport to a hospital."
The department believes the drug is being sold "locally" and is causing the overdoses.
None of the four people have been identified, the Bemidji Pioneer adds.
Beltrami County is located in north-central Minnesota and includes the city of Bemidji.
