A 10-year-old boy is one of two suspects in a string of vehicle break-ins.

A vehicle owner called police in the early hours of Tuesday morning after finding their car doors open and items removed from inside outside their home in Raymond, Minnesota, southwest of Willmar, the Kandiyohi County Sheriff's Office said in a press release.

Officers found a track of footprints in the snow leading away from the crime scene and followed them, according to the release.

It led them to an 18-year-old man and a 10-year-old boy, both from Raymond, who had just finished "rummaging" through another vehicle in northwest Raymond, the release says.

The pair were "cooperative," police say, and led officers to 18 other vehicles that they had been tampering with – 10 of which they managed to break into, stealing goods from seven.

Deputies are continuing their investigation, with the results forwarded to the Kandiyohi County Attorney's Office for review and possible charges.
