A 10-year-old boy who'd been reported missing, prompting police to ask for the public's help locating him, has been found safe.

The boy "has been located safe and well. Officers and family are with him at this time," police wrote in an email news release.

The police also thanked everyone who helped get the word out.

The child, who was described as a "high functioning autistic individual," had left home without important medications, the police said, and his absence was "not normal for him."

He'd gone missing while riding a small, BMX-style bike in the Longfellow area of Minneapolis, according to a news release.

Police spokesperson John Elder told BringMeTheNews that the boy is a "home-body," and the combination of his age and autism had them concerned.
