10-year-old reported missing – police ask for public's help

A 10-year-old Crystal boy is missing, and the city's police department is asking for the public's help locating him.

Authorities say Barway Edwin Collins was last seen after school Wednesday, near his apartment building in the 5400 block of Douglas Drive North. He was reported missing to police around 6:30 p.m.

"We're worried about him," Mike Meehan, deputy chief of the Crystal Police Department, told BringMeTheNews. "We thought he'd show up and he hasn't."

Barway is described as 5 feet tall and 80 pounds, with black hair and brown eyes. He was wearing a black jacket, white t-shirt, black pants and red shoes when he was last seen, and was carrying a red backpack.

Meehan said police don't believe he's in danger, "other than to say that it's unusual behavior for him not to report home after school."

They don't believe it's a custody issue, but are investigating.

Police have been looking for the boy all night, including having dogs comb the parking lot.

"We're covering all our bases," Meehan said.

Authorities are asking anyone with any information to call Crystal PD via Hennepin County Dispatch at 952-258-5321, or dial 911.
