100 firefighters douse Brooklyn Park apartment blaze

No injuries were immediately reported at a three-alarm apartment fire in Brooklyn Park early Friday morning.

More than 100 firefighters from 12 departments raced to the Moonraker Apartments in the 5500 block of Brookdale Drive North, KSTP reports.

About 45 units were evacuated, the station reported.

Fire officials said about six units had burned, metro media reported. The Red Cross was at the scene to help the displaced.

Witnesses said the fire started at about 3:30 a.m. on a third-floor balcony, KSTP reported. WCCO reported the blaze was sparked at about 2:30 a.m. and started on the second floor and moved to the third.

The cause was not immediately reported.

The Brooklyn Park Fire Department on its Facebook page warned people to stay away from the area.
