If you chance upon a corn roaster on your travels around the Twin Cities, get in touch with El Burrito Mercado in St. Paul.

The eatery brings its corn roaster to various fairs and festivals around the metro area, but having returned it to its usual "hidden" spot on their Cesar Chavez St. property Saturday night, it was discovered stolen on Sunday morning.

A reward of up to $1,000 is being offered for its return and the conviction of the thief – or $500 without the conviction – as the roaster doesn't have just commercial value, but also sentimental.

Milissa Silva Diaz, the co-owner of the restaurant, made this plea on Facebook, explaining who the roaster belongs to:

"We had several festivals last few days with corn roasters, last night we didn't secure it as usual- but it was in a hidden spot on our property," the restaurant said on its Facebook page.

"The team was going out again today, [but] at 4:39am, someone managed to hook up one of our corn roasters and steal it!"

The business is doing what it can to catch the thief itself, posting images of a person they believe is responsible for taking it, having captured them on security footage.

The Pioneer Press reports they typically store the roaster in a shed when not in use, but kept it covered in the hidden spot overnight on Saturday as they were due to take it out again on Sunday.

Police say the suspected thief is a Hispanic man, with medium build and possibly in his 30s. He was driving a white pickup truck, possibly a GMC.

Anybody who has information about this theft should call police or the market at 651-227-2192; tips may also be emailed to info@elburritomercado.com.
