10,000 Facebook shares later, Lakeville dog found

Lakeville Patch picked up the story of Harley, who must be the most famous dog in town.

Many pet owners turn to social media when their beloved animals go missing, but Harley's disappearance last week generated more interest than most. When owner Kevin Renville put up a post on Facebook about the missing yellow lab Aug. 31, it generated more than 10,000 shares, many by people in the Minneapolis suburb of about 56,000 residents.

A few days later came the good news: Harley had turned up at a kennel in Farmington, about 5 miles away, much to the joy of Renville's 5-year-old daughter.

Renville posted in his Facebook update, "There is no doubt that social media found our Harley. We could not be more touched by the out pouring of support we have received from friends, family, our neighbors, and hundreds of complete strangers that have emailed, texted or called me in the last four days."
