River searched, van sought in Cold Spring case; $100,000 reward offered

A dive team was searching the Sauk River Monday afternoon in Cold Spring, Minn., likely seeking the weapon used in the slaying of Officer Tom Decker, MPR's Madeleine Baran tweets:

Investigators are also looking for a black minivan with a loud exhaust system, the state Bureau of Criminal Apprehension said during a news conference in St. Paul on Monday, the Star Tribune reports.

Meanwhile, officials on Monday announced that the program Spotlight on Crime is offering a $100,000 reward for information in the case of Cold Spring Police Officer Tom Decker, who was fatally shot on Nov. 29, local media report.

Decker, 31, was shot behind Winner's Bar in Cold Spring as he was on his way to check on a man who was reportedly suicidal.

Investigators have not charged anyone in the case, and no weapon has been found. More details have been trickling out related to the case, including information about Decker's partner, Greg Reiter, who backed away from the shooting scene, according to a newly released document.
