More than half the Maple Grove High School boys’ hockey team has been suspended because of an “off-ice episode,’’ head coach Gary Stefano said Wednesday, the Star Tribune reports.
Details about what happened during the incident have not been disclosed. School officials were told on Monday about the alleged incident, which was in mid-December at a home and involved multiple student athletes, KARE 11 reported.
Osseo Area Public Schools spokesperson Barb Olson told KARE that school officials investigated and consulted with the Minnesota State High School League and the Maple Grove Police Department.
"A couple" of the 13 players face four-game suspensions and the rest will miss two games, the coach told the Star Tribune.
The team's next game is Thursday at Blaine.
