A 13-year-old in southeastern Minnesota is missing, and police are asking for the public's help finding her.

Journee Starr Malone was last seen around 5 p.m. Monday near the Gage East Apartments in Rochester, the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension said.

She is a "selective mute and may not communicate willingly," the release adds.

The agency says she might be voluntarily missing, and could be getting help from others to stay hidden.

She's about 5-foot-3 and 120 pounds, with long brown hair. She was wearing a dark hooded sweatshirt, jeans, black boots, and a black backpack.

Anyone with information on where she might be is urged to call 911.
