17-year-old wonders why she was stabbed at the St. Cloud Walmart

The teen recovering from her injuries says she doesn't know the man suspected of stabbing her.

St. Cloud police say a suspect is behind bars after a 17-year-old girl was stabbed in a Walmart store Thursday evening.

A statement from police says the teen was stabbed under her left arm and was taken to St. Cloud Hospital for treatment of injuries that are not life-threatening.

According to police, a call about the stabbing came in at about 7:30 p.m. When officers arrived, Walmart security had contained the suspect in a certain area of the store and the man had discarded a knife.

The 29-year-old St. Cloud man was taken into custody but is so far refusing to speak with investigators. Meanwhile, the 17 year old told police she does not know the suspect and does not know why she was assaulted.

Police say Walmart staff made the decision to close the store and there was no word on when it would reopen.
