Minnesota has 19 corporate headquarters -- same tally as last year -- large enough to make the annual list of America's most profitable public companies, the Pioneer Press reports.

UnitedHealth Group (No. 17), Target Corp. (No. 36) and Best Buy Co. (No. 61) led the state on the new Fortune 500 ranking based on annual revenues.

The newspaper notes 11 of the Minnesota corporations moved up on this year's list, including St. Paul-based Ecolab, which jumped 136 spots following recent acquisitions.

Edina-based Nash Finch Co. dropped two spots to No. 500 this year, the Business Journal reports.

Wal-Mart Stores Inc. reclaimed the top spot on the Fortune 500 list. Exxon Mobil fell to No. 2.

The Pioneer Press notes the annual Fortune 500 list does not include privately held companies, like Minnesota-based giants Cargill and Carlson Cos.
