2 killed in single-vehicle crash in west-central Minnesota

Two people have died in a single-vehicle crash in west-central Minnesota.

The Becker County Sheriff's Office reports the incident happened at 1:52 a.m. on Friday on Hwy. 35 in South Round Lake Township.

A single vehicle crashed west of Ice Cracking Lodge with four people inside.

Two of those people died, with their identities not yet released by authorities.

The other two in the vehicle, a 44-year-old woman from Mahnomen, and a 32-year-old man from Ponsford, were injured in the crash.

The woman was taken to St. Mary's in Detroit Lakes, while the man had to be airlifted to Essentia Hospital in Fargo.

Fatal crash numbers have been lower in Minnesota so far this year compared to last year, with the Department of Public Safety telling BMTN there had been 56 fatalities as of Apr. 2.

This compared to 65 at the same time last year.
